Floyd Arthur Magill, 91

Services were Saturday, August 28 at the United Methodist church in Tekamah for Floyd Arthur Magill, 91 who died August 25, 1993 at the Tekamah Nursing Center. Rev. Charles A. Bailey officiated. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Floyd Arthur Magill was born August 4, 1902 to Arthur and Hannah Andersen Magill on the family homestead west of Herman. He attended Brodersen and New England Schools.

He married Grace Hovendick at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They spent most of their married life farming west of Herman except for seven years, 1936-1943 when they lived in Omaha. He worked at Sorensen’s Dairy and did landscaping with a team of horses during that time.

After retiring in 1961, the couple moved to Tekamah. He then worked part-time at farming and truck driving.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Mary Ann Brown; a brother, Raymond; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is survived by his wife; daughters Eva (Mrs. Marion) McCluskey and Jean Crom, both of Tekamah; sons, Merlin of Tekamah and Donald of Fort Calhoun; sisters, Mardelle Grothe of Tekamah and Geraldine Clements of Blair; brothers, A. I. and Melvin, both of Herman and Harold of Blair; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Dan Magill, Randy Magill, Duane Magill, Keith Magill, Norman Barr and Ken McCluskey.

Honorary bearers were Neil McGill, Dean Spiker, Kenneth McGill, Percy Hue, Jay Bacon and Alvan Andersen.

Pearl Anderson was organist. Richard Nelsen was soloist.
