Lucy W. Husk, 65

Lucy W. Husk, 65, of Hollis, N.H., died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at her home.

A Celebration of Life service will be in the summer or early fall. Interment will be private.

Lucy W. Nichols was born April 28, 1948, to Hollis P. and Ellen B. Nichols.

She grew up in Needham, Mass., and attended Beaver County Day School and Wheaton College. After graduation, she worked as a staff biologist at the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences and then Harvard University in Widener Library.

Her summer residence was Duxbury, Mass., and spring, fall and winter in Hollis, where she raised Morgan horses, which she loved to ride and drive with her many friends.

She married Richard Husk, a 1967 graduate of Blair High School. They moved to Hollis in 1978 and raised their family.

She was very active in many civic organizations and nonprofit corporations. She was an active environmentalist, historic preservationist, organic farmer and animal lover.

She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Husk; sons, Charles J. Husk and Benjamin W. Husk; and sister, Frances F. Nichols.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her name to the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, P.O. Box 1770, Manomet, MA 02345.
