Margaret A. Schmidt

Margaret A. Schmidt, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Scheer) Hilgenkamp, was born November 1, 1913 at rural Arlington, Nebraska. She married Donald A. Schmidt on February 17, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Arlington, Nebraska. He proceeded her death on October 13, 1979. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and was a former custodian at St. Paul's school. She lived her entire life in the Arlington area and moved into town in 1986. Margaret was well known as a helpful volunteer and neighbor. She did cleaning for the elderly and assisted others by picking up their mail or driving them to the grocery store.

Margaret passed from this life on Tuesday, January 28, 1992, at Memorial Hospital at Dodge County in Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 27 days. Survivors include a sister, Olinda Kruger of Arlington; brother in law, Edgar Grefe of Arlington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Katherine Schmidt; and two sisters, Dorothy Grefe and Lenora Dunklau.
