Dean E. Hoffman Sr., 86

Dean E. Hoffman Sr., 86, of Valley, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Nye Legacy in Fremont.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment with military honors will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont at a later date.

Dean E. Hoffman was born November 13, 1926, in Omaha to Fred and Myrtle (Mentzer) Hoffman.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Italy.

He lived in the Valley area for 86 years where he farmed. He was also a Crow’s Seed Corn dealer for many years. He retired in 2010.

On April 27, 1947, he married Vivian Schuelke at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., in Fremont.

Mr. Hoffman was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., Fraternal Order of Eagles 200 in Fremont, V.F.W. Post 8332 in Arlington, and American Legion Post 71 in Arlington.

He was an avid bowler and he also raced stock cars and was a NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Jr. and Marlene Hoffman of Valley, Lee and Connie Hoffman of Lincoln and Keith and Barb Hoffman of Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Larry Andreasen of Fremont; grandchildren, Susan, Chad, Eric, Heidi, Mike, Deb, Matt, Jenny, Katie, Roy, Tanner and Julie; great-grandchildren, Macayli, Olivia, Bella, Garrett, Jacob, Alex, Jaelynn and Blake; sisters-in-law, Joan Hoffman of Columbus, Darlene and Roger Johnson of Centennial, Colo., Ann Picard of Rollinsville, Colo., Carol Wright of Corona Del Mar, Calif., and Sharon Schuelke of Fredericksburg, Va.

He was preceded in death by one brother; four stepbrothers; and three stepsisters.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
