Art Leach Dies in Iowa

Former Farmer In Kennard Vicinity Died Last Thursday At Age 62

Arthur H. Leach, 62, who farmed for many years in the Sunnyside district east of Kennard, died at Logan, Iowa, early last Thursday after suffering a stroke four days earlier.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Yeaman Funeral Home at Logan, the Rev. George Dimmitt of the Methodist church officiating, and interment followed in Kennard Cemetery.

Mr. Leach was born at Cropsy, Illinois, June 16, 1880, and moved to the Blair-Kennard vicinity in 1881 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Leach. He farmed here for 46 years before moving to Ashland and then to Logan. He was a graduate of the Fremont Normal College.

He and Sarah A. Pritchard of Kennard were married in Blair December 26, 1906, and to them were born four sons and five daughters, two daughters preceding him in death (Mrs. Cleo Gray and one in infancy).

Surviving Mr. Leach are his wife; four sons, Eugene of Beatrice, Melvin of Lincoln, Orville of Woodbine, Iowa, and Arthur, Jr,, at home; three daughter, Mrs. Arlene Points of Woodbine, Mrs. Opal Massara of Omaha and Dwan Dean at home. There are nine grandchildren.
