Tyler Dean Walling, 16

Tyler Dean Walling, 16, of Fremont, died Monday, June 3, 2013, in an auto accident southeast of Fremont.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Ridge Cemetery.

Tyler Dean Walling was born December 6, 1996, to Wesley and Deborah (Raabe) Walling in Fremont.

He had just completed his sophomore year at Fremont Senior High School.

He was very involved in Boy Scouts, beginning when he joined Pack 190 as a Tiger Cub. He had transferred to Pack 104 as a Bear, and crossed over into Troop 104 to begin his career as a Boy Scout. He had taken part in many activities and adventures, and had received many awards. In December, he had attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He was a member of the Student Council in the 8th grade at Fremont Middle School and had been on the Honor Roll since the 6th grade. He was enrolled in the honors math courses and honors English courses at Fremont Senior High School and carried a 4.0 GPA, ranking him at the top of his class.

At the high school, he was a member of the Key Club and Renaissance Club, which are volunteer groups that help the community.

While his focus was on academics, he had been a Parks and Recreation baseball umpire. He had carried the Fremont Tribune for two years, splitting a large paper route with his brother, Blake. He had recently been working at the YMCA.

He played football for many seasons, and this past year, decided to try tennis as his fall sport and was very successful. He was also a part of the Fremont Basketball Team and the Fremont Trap Shooting Team.

His future plan was to attend Creighton University, majoring in chemistry and biology while earning his bachelor's degree. Next, he planned to attend pharmacy school and earn his doctor of pharmacy degree.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church and a member of the United Methodist Youth Group.

He is survived by his parents, Wesley and Deborah Walling of Fremont; two brothers, Blake and Andrew, and one sister, Whitney, all at home; and grandparents, Tom and Marilyn Walling and Dean and Barb Raabe, all of Fremont.

Memorials will be determined later by the family.
