Judy A. Makinen, 66

Judy A. Makinen, 66, of Blair, died July 3, 2009, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 8 at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa. Interment was at the Woodbine Cemetery.

Judy Ann Daugherty was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Woodbine to Lawrence and Gertrude (McGee) Daugherty. She graduated from Woodbine High School in 1960.

After high school, she attended college in Omaha, and worked at GMAC and for the Omaha Board of Education.

On Feb. 9, 1963, she married Lawrence Makinen at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine. The couple lived in Woodbine and moved to Blair in 1975.

Mrs. Makinen worked at D. L. Blair in Blair for more than 25 years.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, going to the casino and she was an avid reader.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Blair; three children, Todd and Carla Makinen of Orr, Minn., Troy Makinen of Mountain Iron, Minn., and Staci Makinen of Blair; two grandchildren; mother, Gertrude Daugherty of Woodbine; brother-in-law and wife, Bill and Diana Hutcheson of Woodbine; and a niece and nephew and their spouses; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Daugherty; and a sister, Phyllis Hutcheson.
