DR. FEES PASSES OVER

AGED PHYSICIAN DIED IN LINCOLN LAST FRIDAY EVENING AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Dr. A. W. Fees, for many years a practicing physician here, died at a hospital in Lincoln at about 9:30 last Friday evening and J.E. Campbell drove over and brought the body here at once.

Blair lodge No. 14, I.O.O.F., conducted a short funeral service at the residence at 8 o’clock this morning and the body was taken to Lennox, Iowa, by auto, his old home, where burial will be made. Nat Cole as Noble Grand and I.C. Eller as chaplain had charge of the services.

Dr. Fees was born at Mt. Etna, Iowa, September 19th, 1861, so was but 66 years old last September. He grew to manhood there and attended the Iowa state university, graduating from the college of medicine March 1st, 1887, with a certificate permitting him to practice medicine in Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.

He also studied law and was admitted to the bar in Iowa January 1st, 1906, holding a certificate that permitted him to practice law in any court in the United States. He was also a graduate of an electrical school.

BLAIR CITIZEN DIES

DR. A. W. FEES EXPIRES AT LINCOLN ON FRIDAY

Dr. A.W. Fees was born at Mt. Etna, Iowa, September 19, 1861, and died at a Lincoln sanitarium last Friday evening after an illness of eleven weeks duration. He received his primary education in the public schools at his home after which he attended the state university of Iowa where he received the degree of doctor of medicine in 1887. He was married to Harriet Ruey Black at Mt. Etna in 1882 and after the husband was graduated from the medical school, they moved to Lennox, Iowa, where he practiced for nineteen years.

The deceased later received a degree in both law and electrical engineering and held a certificate to practice law in any court in the United States. In 1906 the family moved to Fremont where the husband took up his profession and later became head of a hospital in that city. For the past nineteen years he has been engaged in the practice of medicine in this city and enjoyed good health up until several months ago when he was confined to his bed. He was taken to Lincoln for treatment last Thursday morning and died the day following. He was perhaps one of the most widely read citizens of this community and held the reputation of being highly proficient at his chosen profession.

He leaves to mourn his loss besides his bereaved wife, one son, Don C. Fees of Washington D.C.; three daughters, Mrs. C.W. Weyer of Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Melvin E. Green of Gordon, Nebraska; and Mrs. Velma Fees Gollehon of this city. One daughter died in infancy.

A short funeral service was held from the family home yesterday morning after which the body was taken to Lennox, Iowa, for burial.

Dr. A. W. Fees Passes Away - - Well Known Physician Dies in Omaha Hospital After Weeks of Suffering. Practicing Physician in Blair Nearly Score of Years. - - Buried In Old Iowa Home - - Was Admitted to the Bar in Iowa and Also A Graduate of Electrical Course.

Dr. A. W, Fees, who for nearly a score of years has practiced medicine in the city, passed away March 2, 1928 after an illness of eleven weeks.

Deceased was born at Mr. Etna, Iowa, September 19, 1861 where he grew to manhood. He graduated from the medical course at the University of Iowa, March 1, 1887, holding a certificate to practice in the states of Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. He was also admitted to the bar in Iowa on January 1, 1900 and in Nebraska on January 2, 1906 and held a certificate to practice law in any court in the United States.

He was married September 10, 1882 to Harried Ruie Black. Four children, Mrs. C. W. Weyer of Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Melvin E. Green of Gordon, Nebr.; Don C. of Washington, D. C. and Velma Fees Gollehon of Blair are living and will be a great comfort to the bereaved wife.

He began the practice of medicine at Lenox, Iowa later moving to Fremont and nineteen years ago he purchased the practice of J. S. Mortlock of Blair and has since practice his profession here.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows and W. O. W. organizations and had many friends in the community whom he has served for years that will greatly miss him.

The funeral services were held yesterday morning at the home under the auspices of the Odd Fellow organization and the body was taken to his old home at Lenox, Iowa for interment.
