Mrs. S. S. Malone died at the soldier’s home at Burkett, Neb., last Thursday evening and the body was brought here Friday for burial by the side of her husband, whose death occurred in this city May 14th, 1903. The funeral was held at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Orin Stricklett, at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating.

Sindonah Dotson was born in Dodridge county, West Virginia, August 14th, 1840, and was just two days past 77 years old. She was married there to Samuel Spencer Malone in January, 1866, shortly after Mr. Malone was mustered out of the service, he having taken part in the great Civil war. They came to this county in 1869, settling at DeSoto. Then after a short stay in Kansas they returned to Virginia. Some years later they again returned to Washington county and made their home in this city until his death in 1903. Two children were born to them, Mrs. Susan C. Green, of Roy, Mont., who arrived just as the funeral party was leaving the house, not knowing of her mother’s death, only that she was seriously ill, and Miss Clara Malone who lives in Omaha. Mrs. Malone is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Miller, of Omaha, and two brothers, Clinton Dotson, of Hannahdale, Va., and Rufus Dotson, of Idaho, also eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Mrs. O. A. Guyer, of this city, is a niece of the deceased. Mrs. Malone was a member of the Methodist church for many years and was a kind, patient and loving wife, mother and friend, whose memory will remain a pleasant one for many years to come.

Mrs. Sam Malone, an old time, resident of Blair and Washington County, died at the Soldier’s Home at Grand Island, Aug. 16, 1917 at the age of 77 years and 2 days.

Mrs. Malone was born in Doddridge County, West Virginia on August 14, 1840, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Mr. Malone in Jan. 1866 and with her husband came to Nebraska in 1869 settling near DeSoto

After a short residence in this state they moved to Kansas and then back to Virginia but soon returned to Nebraska where they have since made their home.

Mr. Malone preceded his wife to the Great Beyond by some fourteen years, passing away on May 14, 1903.

Two children are left to mourn the loss of the good Christian mother, Mrs. James Green of Roy, Montana and Miss Clara Malone of Omaha, also one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Miller and Mr. Clinton Dotson Hannahdale, Va., and Rufus Dodson of Idaho.
