#1 - Mrs. Ben Bailey Dies In Hospital

Services For Young Married Woman Held At Kennard Monday

A pall of sorrow was thrown over the Blair community Friday when it was learned that Mrs. Ben Bailey had died at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha at the age of 27. A native of Washington County, Mrs. Bailey spent most of her girlhood days in and around Kennard, locating in Blair with her husband following her marriage, March 4, 1924.

As Edith Marie Hall, Mrs. Bailey was born December 24, 1905, at Kennard, and had a wide acquaintance in that vicinity. She was the mother of two children, Robert, eight years old, and an *infant son born shortly before his mother's death, and who passed away Monday morning. Surviving her are her husband, the son, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hall of Kennard. Also surviving are four sisters and a brother. They are Helen, now Mrs. George Owens of Randolph, Nebraska, Harriet, Gretchen and Florence at home and John, of Kennard.

Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Royal Neighbor lodge of Blair and also of the local chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary. She had not united with any church organization, but since early girlhood she had confessed her faith in the Lord.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 8, at the Methodist Church in Kennard, with Rev. Thomas J. Reese, pastor of the Blair Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. E.P. Booher of Kennard. A throng that filled the church and the lawn around the edifice attended the rites.
