Franklin D. Young, 78

Franklin D. Young, 78, of Blair, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Country Bible Church near Blair. There is no visitation.

Franklin Delano Young was born May 5, 1935, in Monona County, Iowa, to Elton and Alta Young.

The family moved to Blair where he graduated from Blair High School. He attended his 60th class reunion just a week before his death.

He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Mae Lorsch, and they were happily married for 58 years. To this marriage, two children were born, Cindy and Jeff.

He started his working career at Rounds Super Station and worked at Duffey's Market, Omar, Pepsi, Western Auto, Farm Bureau Insurance and Old Home Bread. Upon retirement, he worked at Fairway Oil and MACC.

He was a member of the Blair Rescue Squad and Fire Department for 18 years.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he enjoyed his time with his family and being home with his dogs, Rosie and Buffy.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Carolyn Young; two grandchildren, Keenan and Emma Young, all of Blair; son-in-law, Dean Costantinou of Omaha; two sisters, Eileen (Everett) Miller of Omaha and Rosellen Weikel of San Diego; sisters-in law, Betty Anderson and Janet and Dick Sederburg, all of Blair; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Young Costantinou in 2009.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
