SULLIVAN RITES HELD

MRS. A. L. SULLIVAN, 81, LONG PILOT-TRIBUNE HERMAN REPORTER

Mrs. A.L. Sullivan, 82, long-time Herman resident and for many years the Pilot-Tribune’s news correspondent for Herman and area, died Friday at the Blair Convalescent Home. She had long been ill.

Services with the Truhlsen Funeral Home in charge, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Herman Baptist Church. The Rev. Mr. Maxwell officiated and burial followed in Herman Cemetery.

Anna Louise Sullivan was born at Pekin, Ind., Dec. 30, 1874, daughter of Joab and Ellen Souder. She was left motherless as an infant and was raised at the home of her mother’s brother, Elias Turner.

She and Alva Sullivan were married in 1895 and had two sons, Raymond and Irving. Illness claimed the father and sons within a month’s time in 1899. Later that year she came to Herman to the home of her father. In 1904 she established a millinery business at Herman, which she operated for many years.

For a number of years Mrs. Sullivan taught the adult Bible class at the Herman Baptist Sunday School and was active in the Missionary Circle.

Surviving her are three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Roberts of Omaha; Mrs. Viola Brunton of Herman; and Mrs. Clara Boss of Ovid, Colo., and a number of nephews and nieces. Three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
