MRS. SYRUS ROSE

The news of the passing of Mrs. Syrus Rose in an Omaha hospital reached Blair last Sunday. Mrs. Rose, known in her earlier life as Miss Cora Leach, was born on a farm south of Blair where she grew to womanhood and where she married Syrus Rose.

In 1910 the family moved to Walthill where they have since resided. To Mr. and Mrs. Rose thirteen children, seven boys and six girls, the youngest of whom is eleven years of age, were born.

Of Mrs. Rose’s family, only one brother, Arthur of Iowa, remains.

Funeral services were held last Tuesday at Kennard, and interment made in the Kennard cemetery.

Walthill Woman, 60, Died Sunday Morning in an Omaha Hospital

Mrs. Cora A. Rose, aged 60, resident of Walthill for several years and a former Kennard woman, died Sunday morning in an Omaha hospital after an illness of several weeks.

The body was brought to Blair, and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Kennard Methodist Church, Rev. Stingelmeir of Vermillion, South Dakota, officiating. Six of her sons served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Kennard Cemetery.

Mrs. Rose was born as Cora A. Leach, August 6, 1874, at Quincy, Illinois. She was married to Cy C. Rose on December 28, 1892, and they later moved to Washington County. Thirteen children were born to them, all of whom survive, as does Mr. Rose. The children are Mrs. Flossie Wright of Arlington, Mrs. Frances Weidum of Omaha, Earl Rose of Chicago; and Harry, Andrew, Walter, George, Lloyd, Helen, Irene, Wendell, Mable Day and Dorothy Davis, all of Walthill. A brother, Arthur Leach of Logan, Iowa, also survives.
