Gladys Mae Marine

Gladys Mae Marine, 93, a resident of the Tekamah Senior Citizens Home at Tekamah, passed away on Saturday morning, May 16, 1987 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

She was born on October 15, 1893, at Tekamah to Clea and Anna (Rork) Banbury.

On December 22, 1915, she married Walter Lee Marine at Blair.

Mr. Marine passed away in May of 1974.

They farmed in Burt County for nearly all their lives, before retiring and moving to Tekamah in 1964.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Methodist Women’s Circle.

Survivors include one son, Vernon C. Marine of Woodburn, Oregon; four daughters: Doris (Mrs. James) Cherry of Craig, Mrs. Rosamond McAllister of Carmel, California, Ellamae (Mrs. Ed) Cannell of Oakland, California, and Frances (Mrs. Gerald) Jensen of Tekamah; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Lee Marine, one daughter, Martha Landholm, and two infant sons, Kenneth and Walter.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 1987, at eh Hamel & Peck Funeral Chapel in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.
