Services Held For Elsie Anna Markmann

Funeral services for Elsie Anna (Kuhl) Markmann, who died July 25, 1981 at her home, were held Wednesday, July 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 144th and Ida St., Omaha, Nebraska.

Rev. Albert G. Engler officiated at a 2 p.m. service. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Elsie Anna Kuhl Markmann was born February 20, 1911, to Albert and Anna (Feuerstein) Kuhl at Barwalde, Germany. She came to the United States when she was 13 years of age where she resided and attended school in the Benson area.

On August 21, 1929, she was married to Fred Markmann. For 52 years of their married life they resided on the family farm south of Bennington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, of Bennington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy F. and Dorothy Markmann, Donald and Janet Markmann, both of Bennington; four daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Donald (Anita) Taylor of Bennington, Mrs. Gerald (Florence) Allen, Mrs. Glen (Joan) Petersen, Mrs. John (Shirley) Raleigh, all of Omaha. One sister, Mrs. Clifford (Gerda) Larsen, Lynwood, California. One brother, Paul Klabunde, Bellevue, Nebraska, 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren also survive her.

Pallbearers were Gary Markmann, Donald Markmann, John Taylor, Randy Allen, Joe Taylor and Brian Petersen.

Honorary pallbearers were John Clark Raleigh III and Ryan Raleigh. Vocalist Carmen Dau sand “Nearer My God To Thee” and “How Great Thou Art”. Gayleen Meyer was the organist.

Kremer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
