E. A. Leach Mr. E. A. Leach, who has been suffering since September with cancer of the stomach, passed away at his home on his 65th birthday, March 9.

Mr. Leach was born in Illinois, March 9, 1851. He was united in marriage Sept. 14, 1873 to Miss Plyleana Hoose, who with one son, Arthur, and one daughter, Mrs. S. Rose, of Walthill, survive a kind husband and father. One son, Will, departed this life about four years ago.

He came to Washington County in 1883 and for nearly one-half century has been a good citizen, interested in all that was good for the uplift of the community. He was a member of the Masons, Knights Templar, W.O.W. and M.W.A. lodges. These orders were present at his funeral which was held Sunday afternoon at the home, Mr. Warne, a former pastor of the M.E. church and a friend of the family, making the address. The funeral was in charge of the Masons. Besides his children and wife, Mr. Leach left 2 brothers and 4 sisters to morn for him. Mr. Leach was of a genial nature and made friends both in fraternal and social circles. The bearers were E.C. Nelsen, Pete Jacobsen, Marvin Gollehon, J.B. Burgess, Jay Vestal and J.C. Neal.

Eugene A. Leach, the subject of this brief memoir, entered upon this life in the state of Illinois March 9th, 1851. After a painful and distressing illness of cancer of the stomach, he fell asleep in death, at Kennard, Washington County, Nebr., March 9, 1916. Aged 65 years.

On Sept. 14th. 1873 in the state of Ill., he was united in marriage to Miss Plylean Hoose and to this union three children were born, two of whom, Mrs. Rose and Arthur are here today to weep with the widow, the departure of a kind, devoted, and loving husband and father, from our midst.

In the year 1883 they came to this county and settled on a farm two miles east of Kennard. So for a generation, Mr. Leach has been an interested citizen of this community, respected and esteemed for those sterling qualities of honor, business integrity and industrious manhood, which both compels and merits success.

As a member of the Masonic Knight Templars, Odd Fellows, Modern Woodmen and Woodmen of the World Fraternal and Beneficiary Orders, Bro. Leach accepted and exemplified the principles of Fraternity, Friendship, charity and truth; fundamental to the progress of Christian citizenship.

As a Bros. friends and neighbors we gather today to extend our sincere and profound sympathy for the bereaved family. Learn anew the illustrated and impressive lesson of our mortality; express our hope of a future immorality. A noble and better life where sickness, sorrow and death are unknown. Where death is swallowed up in victory and the former things are cast away.
