HAROLD AUGUST RABBASS, 81

Harold August Rabbass, 81, of Blair, died early Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Blair Memorial Community Hospital.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Pastor John Emslie will officiate.

He was cremated and will be buried in the Blair Cemetery.

Harold August Rabbass was born March 22, 1912, to Carl and Clara (Anthony) Rabbass in Royal.

He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

On Sept. 13, 1936, he married Cornelia Schwinck at St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church in West Point.

The couple lived in West Point, Minden and North Platte before moving to Blair in 1940.

A professional photographer, he owned the Rabbass Studio for 35 years.

During World War II, he served in the Navy as a photographer in the South Pacific.

He was active in Trinity Lutheran Church and in the community throughout his life.

He served as a scoutmaster and on the city council. He was a 40-year Lion’s Club member and served on the Fire Department for 45 years.

He was also the first recipient of the College Community Award through photography at Dana College in 1965.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Denise Rabbass; grandchildren Matthew, Karl and Theresa Rabbass, all of Ottumwa, Iowa; sister, Irene Frahm of Page; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Alvin and Leonard; and sisters, Hattie, Selma, Alma and Frieda.

His eyes will be donated to the Lion’s Eye Bank and his organs will also be donated.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Blair Fire Department.
