JOYCE M. RAGAN, 66

Joyce M. Ragan, 66, of Blair, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Wednesday, March 17, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Joyce M. Ragan was born Aug. 26, 1932, to John and Eunice (Flint) Neilson in Joliet, Ill. She attended school in Joliet, Ill., where she graduated from high school in 1950.

She then attended nursing school in Chicago at Augustana School of Nursing and Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1956. In 1994, she received her master’s degree in social gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

On Aug. 30, 1958, she married Gilbert Ragan in Joliet, Ill. The couple moved to Lincoln for one year, and then moved to Blair in 1959.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Nebraska Scottish Society and was a founding member of the Blair Rose Society.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. John and Tamra Ragan of Wheaton, Minn.; daughter, Kathleen Ragan of Blair; sons, David and Liam Ragan of Omaha; four grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Harley Shepherd of Rockford, Ill.; and brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Neilson of Cherry Hill, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
