James W. "Jim" Hancock, 76, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Inurnment will be in the Blair Cemetery. There is no visitation.

James W. "Jim" Hancock was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Herman, to Paul and LaVerne (Jensen) Hancock.

He was a retired farmer and seed corn dealer.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Verlene; sons, Steve (Julie) Hancock of Charlotte, N.C., and Russ Hancock of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Tara Hancock of Longmont, Colo.; grandchildren, Ryan and Blair Hancock of Charlotte, N.C.; stepsons, Ron Carlson, Tony (Nancy) Carlson and Scott (Janet) Carlson; stepdaughter, Connie (Tony) Peterson, all of Lincoln; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Patricia) Hancock of Tekamah.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley.

Memorials may be directed to Bryan LGH Medical Center or the American Cancer Society.
