EILERT RAND, 95
Services for Eilert (Ike) Rand, 95, of Missouri Valley, who died September 3, 1993, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley were Tuesday, September 7, with Rev. Renee Mackey officiating at the service. Interment was in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Missouri Valley.
Eilert Rand was born June 2, 1898 to John and Stennetta Spier Rand in Lake View, Iowa.
He married Hattie Plummer May 4, 1941, in Missouri Valley, Iowa and they resided on a farm in Harrison County all of their lives.
He served as an elder, trustee, and was treasurer for 52 ½ years for the California Presbyterian Church. He also sang in the church choir. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Farmers Union and Farm Movement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stennetta; a brother, John T. Rand and sisters Shamka Rand, Katie Rand, and Jennie Rand.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie of Missouri Valley; one son, Roger E. Rand of Salix; grandchildren, Rebecca Thompson of Dakota City, Nebraska; Todd Rand of Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa; Timothy Rand of Salix, Iowa; Rachelle Shockey of Sioux City, Iowa; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Thompson of Dakota City; sister, Wubbena Rand of Missouri Valley; one brother, Jacob Rand of Blair; and many friends.
Honorary pallbearers were John Barnes, Matthew Meade, Harry Perkins, William Marshall, Don McCurley, Gilbert Meade, Nicholas Meade, and Robert Fitzgibbons, Sr.
Pallbearers were John Shearer, Oliver Hultman, Dean Dewaele, George Winther, and Robert Scebold.
Organist was Jennifer Perkins. Carol Perkins, John Shearer and Jerry Shearer were soloists.
Special memories were given by Gary Perkins.
Arrangements were by the Hennessey, VanCleave and Hurley Funeral Home in Missouri Valley
