FORMER DANA PROFESSOR DIES IN MINNESOTA

Arthur C. Ranheim, 76, died Monday, May 12, in the Waseca Area Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1904, in Hills, to Ole and Anna (Yestness) Ranheim. He attended and was graduated from the Ruthton High School, was a 1929 graduate of St. Olaf College, completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota for a master’s degree in education, and did some additional graduate work at the University of Nebraska.

He was a professor of education at Dana College in Blair for 10 years. He taught for 30 years in a number of southern Minnesota schools. He was an elementary principal at the Waldorf-Pemberton school for nine years before his retirement in 1969, when he moved to Waseca.

He was active in his retirement as a bookkeeper for the former Sprengeler Oil Company of Waseca, and later as a stock person at Madsen’s.

On June 25, 1937, he married Louise Baumann in New Ulm. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Sonja) Taeusch of Cleveland, Ohio, and Laurie Ranheim of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; and three brothers, Rev. Melvin Ranheim of Minneapolis, Clifford Ranheim of Denver, Colorado, and Elmer Ranheim of Ruthton.

Services were Thursday, May 15, in the Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Knutson and Rev. Steven Ranheim of Ness City, Kansas, officiated. Burial was in the Woodville Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews.

Kinder Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements for the funeral.
