Arlington native Harvey F. Ahlmeyer, 92, of Ogallala, died May 8, 1998, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Services were May 11 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala with the Rev. Robert Pierce officiating. Burial was in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Harvey Frederick Ahlmeyer was born Jan. 18, 1906, at Arlington to Fredrick and Hanna Ahlmeyer. He grew up and attended schools in the Arlington area.

On Dec. 26, 1931, he married Mildred Walkenhorst in Lincoln. The couple made their first home in Fontanelle before moving to Arlington in 1933.

In 1936, they moved to a farm in Perkins County. They purchased their present farm south of Ogallala in 1940.

He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church before transferring membership to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala when the church started an elementary school.

Mrs. Ahlmeyer died on Feb. 19, 1995.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Dean Cook and Betty and Larry Morrison, all of Ogallala; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; and one sister, Mrs. Alfred Dahlkoetter of Ogallala.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; a son-in-law, Ervin Armknecht; three grandsons; and three sisters, Elsie Hilgenkamp, Regina Walkenhorst and Lillie Bensen.

A memorial has been established to the church in his memory.
