CARL F. RASMUSSEN, 84

Former Blair resident Carl F. Rasmussen, 84, of Fremont, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Private family services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Shirley Schmidt officiating. Interment will be at Fremont’s Ridge Cemetery.

Carl F. Rasmussen was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Fremont to Fredrick and Imo (Christensen) Rasmussen. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1940 graduate of Fremont High School. He attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont.

On June 23, 1946, he married Gloria Jean Sten in Denver, Colo.

Mr. Rasmussen was employed at the former Safeway and Hinky-Dinky grocery stores in Fremont. He moved to Blair in 1973, and worked at the Hinky-Dinky in Glenwood, Iowa, and Blair, and also worked for Taylor Oil Co. in Blair. He later moved to Iowa, and eventually returned to Fremont in 1992.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C., at Blair; was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Blair; and was a former member of the Fremont Elks Club.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jane Rasmussen and Jeff and Kathy Rasmussen, all of Fremont; Chris and Peggy Rasmussen of Omaha; and Jon and Diane Rasmussen of West Point; daughter, Sally Rasmussen of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren and their families; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, in 1999; and a brother, Lyle Rasmussen.

Memorials are suggested to the A.J. Merrick Manor.
