MARIE RASMUSSEN DIED WEDNESDAY OF HEART ATTACK

Funeral services were held Monday morning for Miss Marie Rasmussen, long time resident of Blair and Washington county. Miss Rasmussen was found dead in her home Friday, apparently having suffered a heart attack. She was believed to have died Wednesday.

Marie Margretha Rasmussen was born at Kennard on March 20, 1891 and she lived in Washington County all of her life. She was 80 years old at the time of her death.

For many years she was a linotype operator at the Lutheran Publishing House. She also served as a proof reader. Later she was a linotype operator for The Enterprise, a position which she filled for about ten years. She was very meticulous in her work and was of the old school, always giving her best in every part of her work.

After retiring from her work in the printing business, she devoted her efforts to her church. She worked many hours assisting the pastors and each Sunday had a number of elderly persons and shut-ins whom she called for with her car and brought them to the Sunday church service. She was an assistant to Rev. H.C. Jorgensen when he was pastor of First Lutheran and she carried on this work as long as her health would permit.

Many years ago her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Rasmussen, bought the residence at 1748 Grant street and Marie lived with her parents until the time of their passing and then continued on in the family home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister Lillian. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hundahl, of Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church Monday forenoon with the Rev. Robert Albers conducting the service. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were S. Harold Paulsen, Bernard Paulsen, Martinus Hansen, Joe Jessen, Clarence Matzen and Rev. Harold Jorgensen.
