Mary Rasmussen, 75, of Blair lost her fight with Lou Gehrig’s disease on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003.

At her request, she will be cremated. The only services will be an open house for visitation by family and friends. The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Rasmussen residence, 1943 Front Street, Blair.

Mary “Frankie” Rasmussen was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Memphis, Tenn., to Lynette and L.A. Rodgers.

On Jan. 9, 1949, she married Michael Rasmussen of Missoula, Mont.

Mrs. Rasmussen was a cartographer for nearly 20 years with the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management in Montana and Alaska. She was also a full-time homemaker, and loved both of her professions.

The couple moved to Blair in 1997 to be near their daughter, Shela Borger. Mrs. Rasmussen has been a good friend and neighbor to those around her, always ready to help. She brought a sense of community spirit to her new home, and will be missed by those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shela and John Borger of Blair; Judy and Stevan Fry of Thonotosassa, Fla.; and LaVeda Larson of Kent, Wash.; three grandsons and a granddaughter; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael, her parents, and her sister, Rozella Smith.
