MAXINE M. RASMUSSEN, 84

Maxine M. Rasmussen, 84, died Oct. 13, 2005, at Country Side Living Center for Alzheimer and dementia residents in Canby, Ore.

Maxine Marie Rasmussen was born Dec. 8, 1920, at her family home near Blair in the Orum community to John and Emma Taylor.

She received her education at Rosehill School.

On Feb. 14, 1941, she married John Louis Rasmussen at her family home. Together, they raised four children who all attended Rosehill School and were taught by the same teacher. They lived in the family home for several years before moving to Washington in 1955, and to St. Paul, Ore., in 1959. With her husband, they operated Sar-Ben Farm, a dairy still in operation by her eldest son and his daughter and son-in-law. In 1963, they began Ranch Automation, a Butler building company. Mrs. Rasmussen was the bookkeeper for both companies.

She was active at the Zion Lutheran Church in Newberg, Ore. While living in Nebraska, Mrs. Rasmussen and her family attended Salem Lutheran Church at Fontanelle.

She is remembered as a loving mother to her four children, and her legacy to them was her Christian faith. She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Karen and Raynold Meuchel of Salem, Ore.; Marlin and Joni Rasmussen of St. Paul, Ore.; Norman Rasmussen of Albany, Ore.; and Linda Wood of Sisters, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mrs. Russell Taylor; and brother-in-law and wife, Ross and Alice Rasmussen, all of Fremont; and sister-in-law and husband, Margaret and Lyle Stock of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her six brothers and two sisters; husband, John; and grandson, Jonathan Emken Wood.
