ROBERT RASMUSSEN, 74, DIED HERE DECEMBER 7th

Robert Rasmussen passed away at the Blair Hospital, December 7th, following an illness of two weeks.

Mr. Rasmussen was born to Rasmus and Petrina Jensen Rasmussen at the family farm on June 16, 1899. He was the youngest son in a family of twelve children. Eight of these preceded him in death.

His entire life was spent on this farm. He was a pioneer in the commercial trucking industry, starting the Rasmussen Transfer line with his brother, James in 1920. He was also a farmer on the farm his father had homesteaded.

He served on the school board for more than 25 years and also the rationing board during World War II.

His education was obtained at the customary country school.

On May 5, 1928, he was united in marriage to Mabelle Van DeVenter. To this union three children were born, Phyllis (Mrs. Ed McMullen of Blair), Robert of Herman and Marilynn (Mrs. Veldon Phillips of Montrose, Colorado). There are also twelve grandchildren. One grandchild preceded him in death. There are also two great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Emil Knudsen of Tekamah; Mrs. Louie Knudsen of St. Cloud, Minn.; and one brother of Herman and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Blair on Tuesday afternoon, December 11th. The Rev. Robert Albers conducted the service and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers were Lyle Thielfoldt, Joe Cameron, Curtis Behrendt, A.I. Magill, Lyle Hindley and Lester Curley. Honorary pallbearers were LeRoy Spiker, Morgan Rasmussen, Charles Thielfoldt, Mack Cameron, Chris Andersen and Peter Andersen.
