ROBERT RASMUSSEN DIED AT GOOD SHEPHERD MAY 8

Robert Rasmussen, a lifetime resident of Washington County and a resident of Blair since 1948, died Wednesday at the Good Shepherd Home in Blair. He had been making his home at Good Shepherd but had continued to maintain a home at 2218 Park Street in Blair.

The deceased was born January 22, 1896 in Washington County which made him 79 years of age at his death. He grew up in the Orum neighborhood and for many years he was a farmer there. He was married to Esther B. Sorensen April 9, 1919 at Orum.

During the years he was engaged in farming, he took an interest in community affairs. He was a member of the Gardner School Board for many years, was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

After moving to Blair in 1948, he was in the employ of Washington County and for seven years was custodian of the First Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; and by two sons and a daughter. The sons are R. Harold R. Rasmussen of Tekamah and James D. Rasmussen of San Antonio, Texas. The daughter is Mrs. Elaine Kasper of Omaha. A brother, Carl Rasmussen lives at Blair and another brother, George, lives at Kennard. There are ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon with Pastor Robert Albers conducting the service. Burial was made in the Orum Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Robert Danielson, Ivan Rasmussen, James Andreasen, Delbert Jensen, Jerald Matz, and Kenneth Jensen.
