Melvin Campbell, 72

Melvin Campbell, 72, of Blair, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Crowell Home in Blair.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Melvin Campbell was born December 19, 1940, at home in Blair to Milford and Luzetta (Metzler) Campbell.

He was raised and attended school in Blair and lived there his entire life.

On May 16, 1958, he married Alice Jump in Blair.

He enjoyed fishing, was an avid hunter and sportsman and loved spending time in his garden or on the Missouri River. All of his activities were centered around his family.

Over the years, Mr. Campbell worked as a welder at Independent Metals, as a gunsmith, and was employed with Flynn Farms, Shamburg Farms and Peck Manufacturing.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Pennie and Jim Keller and Shirleane Lange of Blair; grandchildren Stephone Casey, Nick Keller, Elizabeth Swan, Heather Keller, Jeane Craft, Shelby Lange, Sarah Hughes-Deeney, Amy Johnson and Laura Campbell; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter- in-law, Melissa Campbell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his siblings; son, Sonny; and grandchildren, Candice Casey and Luzetta Casey.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
