Jennifer K. Judd, 55, of Moorhead, Iowa, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Moorhead Christian Church, 407 Oak St., in Moorhead, Iowa. Following the services, there will be an American flag presentation by the United States Army. No visitation is planned.

Jennifer Kay Judd was born May 9, 1958, in Richmond, Mo., to Vernon and Joyce Kay (Thomas) Judd.

She was raised in Excelsior Springs, Mo., until age 16, when her family moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Missouri Valley High School.

She then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for a short time until being honorably discharged for medical reasons. She lived in Omaha and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she received her engineering degree.

After college, she worked for HunTel and the Omaha Public Power District as a lineman, then worked for John Iversen for several years. In recent years, she was the Monona County, Iowa, zoning commissioner until failing health forced her to quit.

On July 13, 2010, she was united in marriage to her friend of 21 years, Patricia “Trisha” Francis, in Sioux City, Iowa.

During their 20 years together, the couple lived in Monona County, Iowa, and in recent years made their home near Moorhead, Iowa.

She enjoyed carpentry work, crafts, working crossword puzzles, being outdoors fishing or chopping wood and watching “Jeopardy!” Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of animals. She loved joking around and making people laugh.

Jennifer is survived by one brother, Jeff Judd, and his partner, Jake, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Lacy Judd of Sioux City, Iowa, and Tiffany Eastwood and husband, Kelly, of Arlington; six nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Judd; mother and stepfather, Joyce and Charles Novak; one brother in infancy, Jimmy; and her spouse, Trisha Judd on Oct. 16, 2010.
