Carolyn E. "Carrie" Wais, 45

Carolyn E. “Carrie” Wais, 45, of Omaha, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, after a brave fight against cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Omaha. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 2, at the Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman Dworak & Cutler West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Rd. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Carolyn E. "Carrie" Wais was born June 7, 1968, to Daniel and Mary Ann Wais.

She was employed as a communications dispatcher for the Washington County Sheriff's Office since July 16, 2008.

In December 2012, she was named Employee of the Year for the office. Co-workers said she was one of the best dispatchers the office has ever had.

She loved her job, and her family, and considered her co-workers part of her family.

She is survived by three sons, Benjamin Daniel, Owen Patrick and Liam Michael; parents, Daniel and Mary Ann Wais; sisters, Anne Kennedy (Jason), Kathryn King (Kevin), and Rebecca Wais (fiancé, Jeff Mass); numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emil and Margaret Papke and Florian and Grace Wais; aunts, Patricia Stehno and Patricia Moore.

Memorials are suggested to the Wais Children Memorial Fund or St. Pius X Catholic Church.
