Joseph Singer, the old gentleman who fell on the crossing between the Pilot building and the National bank and broke his hip bone one day last week, died at the Blair Hospital at 2 o’clock last Saturday afternoon. The fall was such a shock to his nervous system that he later suffered a paralytic stroke which was the real cause of his death. The funeral was held at the Christian church at 1:30 Monday afternoon, Rev. D. M. Sayles officiating. Mr. Singer was born in Germany Feb. 5th 1830 and was therefore past 79 years of age. He came to this country and was living in Chicago at the time of the great fire. He was twice married and leaves two children, Mrs. A. E. French, of this city, and one son, Chris Singer of Des Moines, Ia. In late years he had made his home in Tampa, Florida and had sixty acres of land near that place. He had made his home with his daughter since August, 1907.
