Irvin Panning, 78

Irvin Panning, 78 of Fremont and formerly of the Hooper area, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Fremont Area Medical center.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow. Rev. Rodney Meske will officiate. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Panning was born May 21, 1919, on the family farm near Hooper to Fred. G. and Emma (Pflueger) Panning. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and then attended and graduated from Hooper High School. On Sept 16, 1945, he married Edna Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He farmed with his father and brother east of Winslow. In 1983, he retired from farming and moved into Fremont.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He had served his church in various offices and on various committees over the years. He was also a member of the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club of Fremont.

Survivors are his wife, Edna; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Mary Panning and Neil and Shellli Panning, all of Hooper; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Thomas Wilson of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Victor Panning; Ted Panning; and Art and Meta Panning, all of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by three infant children and three sisters.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
