Ruth Pape, 74, of Blair, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Alegent Hospice House in Omaha

. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson. Interment will be in the Leigh City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and continue on Saturday from noon until service time, all at the funeral home.

Ruth Eckerman was born April 1, 1935, in Carroll, Iowa, to Raymond and Hildegard (Roth) Eckerman. The family moved to Omaha where she grew up and attended school. On Oct. 1, 1953, she married Gerald “Jerry” Pape in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, until moving back to Omaha in 1955. In 1972, they moved to Leigh where they owned and operated Pape’s Pub.

Mrs, Pape had been living in Blair for the last 10 years. She loved to grow flowers and vegetables in her garden, she was a very hard worker and enjoyed her job at Dollar General in Blair.

She is survived by her son, Scott Pape of Omaha; daughters, Cindy Schaf and special friend, Tim Mueller of Columbus, Linda Hegr and her husband, Craig Alva of Madera, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Eckerman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1993; and a sister, Joan Winslow.
