DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDENT

Mrs. J. M. Pardew, who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. A. Wentworth east of Blair, went over to Fremont last Saturday for a visit at the home of her son, Newt. Before retiring she asked for a drink of water, following her son to the kitchen. In returning she opened the wrong door and stepped off the porch, falling about fourteen inches and breaking her left hip bone. She was carried into the house and physicians summoned to attend her injuries. On Monday she was brought to Blair and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Wentworth, where she passed away about 6:50 Tuesday morning, without having regained consciousness.

Clarintine Demindy Gray was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, February 9, 1833, and was 81 years, 3 months and 16 days old. She was married to Joel M. Pardew, February 18, 1857, twelve children being born to them, four of whom are dead. She is survived by a husband, three daughters, five sons, 27 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The surviving children are: N.S. Pardew, Fremont, R.E Pardew, West Virginia, Mrs. Wm. Graven, Long Pine, Neb., Mrs. George Vanalstine, Portland, Ore., R.L. Pardew, Walden, Colo., C.M. Pardew, Kansas City, Kansas, E.H. Pardew, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Mrs. H.A. Wentworth of this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Pardew came to Nebraska in 1891, making their home in Washington County continually. They lived at Fontanelle for several years and then moved to Blair, making their home in Weimerville until about a year ago, when on account of Mrs. Pardew’s health they moved to the home of their daughter, Mrs. H.A. Wentworth, at the Blair bridge.

The funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church at 2 o’clock this afternoon, the deceasing having been a member of that denomination since childhood. The remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery east of town.

Mrs. J. M. Pardew Dead

Last Saturday Mrs. J. M. Pardew went with her son, Robert, and grandson, John, to Fremont to visit her son, Newt, of that city. That evening just before retiring she had gone to her room and then asked for a drink, and when her son went to get it for her she went to the kitchen with him and in place of returning to her room she opened the wrong door, walking off of the front porch, falling some 14 inches.

On account of her age and feeble health she was unable to catch herself and as a result of the fall she broke her hip bone. Her son, Newt, picked her up and took her to her room and Drs. Haslam and Davies, of Fremont, were called and attended the injuries.

She was brought to Blair on the forenoon train from Fremont Monday morning and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. A. Wentworth, and passed away on the next morning, Mary 26th, at about 6:50, without ever regaining consciousness.

Graven, of Long Pine, Neb., Mrs. G. Vanalstine, of Portland, Oregon, R.L. Pardew, of Walden, Colorado, C.M. Pardew, of Kansas City, Kansas, E.H. Pardew, of Fort Colins, Colorado and Mrs. H.A. Wentworth, of this city.

She moved with her husband to Nebraska in March, 1891, and has lived in Washington county ever since coming here. They lived at Fontanelle for several years then moved to Blair, making their home in Weimerville until about a year ago, when on account of her poor health they moved to the home of their daughter, Mrs. H.A. Wentworth, at Blair bridge.

The funeral will be held at the Baptist church at 2 o’clock Thursday, Rev. F.C. Volek officiating. Interment will be made in the Blair cemetery. Mrs. Pardew has been a member of the Baptist church since childhood.

Word was received in Fremont this morning that Mrs. Minda Pardue died at her home from injuries sustained while on a visit at the home of her son, Newton Pardue, of Fremont. Mrs. Pardue died at her home this morning at 6:45 o’clock. She was 83 years of age and a native of Virginia. She is survived by five sons and three daughters.

Mrs. Pardue came to Fremont Saturday for a visit with her son and family. Saturday evening she sustained a painful injury to her hip when she fell from the porch at the home of her son on South Maple street. She continued to grow worse until the end. Mr. Pardue is employed in the carpenter department of the North-Western and is out on the road. He is expected to arrive in Fremont this evening and will go to Blair for the funeral.
