Dorothy M. Parr, 81, of Covington, Ga., died Sept. 20, 2004, at the Portsbridge Hospice in Conyers, Ga.

A memorial service was held Sept. 26 at the First Baptist Church in Covington.

Dorothy Mae Parr was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Sherman, Texas, to Charles and Belle Colard. She joined the U.S. Women’s Air Corps after high school, and met and married her husband Charles Eldon, while serving in Indiana. The couple traveled and lived in many states and overseas while he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Mrs. Parr had been a resident of Covington since her husband’s retirement. She did income tax preparation in Covington for more than 30 years.

The Parrs were frequent visitors to the Arlington area since 1974, when their son, Charles Guy, moved to the area. They especially enjoyed visiting around Memorial Day for the services at the Arlington Cemetery put on by local veterans organizations.

Mrs. Parr was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, American Legion Post No. 77 in Conyers, Ga., Eastern Star of Covington, and the Covington Elkadettes.

She is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Lyle Arnold of Covington; daughter-in-law, Leslie Parr of Arlington; foster children, Richard Frost of Tampa, Fla., Tina Goble of Fremont, Kim Kenneson of Covington, and Mike Riley of South Carolina; five grandchildren and their families; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, and her son, Charles.
