GEO. MARSHALL PASSES OVER

DIED AT HIS HOME ON SOUTH STREET YESTERDAY MORNING AT 5:40 FROM A COMPLICATION OF DISEASES

George Preston Marshall passed away at 5:40 yesterday morning from a combination of diseases from which he has been a sufferer for a number of years. He had been very low for several days so the end was not unexpected at an early hour yesterday morning.

The funeral service will be held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Carl G. Bader officiating with burial in the Blair cemetery, where his daughter, Mrs. Chris Good was laid to rest nine years ago.

Mr. Marshall was born in Livingston county, Ill., August 4th, 1858, so was just past 70 years of age. When he was 14 years of age, the family moved to Winterset, Ia., where he grew to manhood’s estate. There he was married to Miss Maggie Casselman on Sept. 13th, 1885 and the following month they moved to Minneapolis, Kans., and went to farming. They came to Blair in October of 1914, and have made their home at 606 east South street ever since.

Two sons and two daughters are now living: Polly, Mrs. Ora Holeton; Bell, Mrs. Chet Walrath; Ollie Marshall of this city; and Floyd, who is employed at the Updike ranch near Herman. He has one sister living, Mrs. Wm. Farnsworth of Topeka, Kans.

Mr. Marshall was a kind and indulgent husband and father, loved and respected by his neighbors, a good man and a good citizen who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
