Howard H. Marshall, 94

Howard H. Marshall, 94, of Arlington, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at Arlington Community Church, with the Rev. Burt Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Visitation began Thursday, but will also be held at the church on Friday, one hour prior to services.

Howard H. Marshall was born May 8, 1912, in Arlington to Austin and Nettie (McMillan) Marshall. He grew up in Arlington and was a 1930 graduate of Arlington High School. After graduation, he attended Wayne state College.

He farmed near Arlington from 1930 to 1942, then moved into Arlington. He worked at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant at Mead, then became a meat inspector with the USDA until retiring in 1975.

He had been residing at the Cloverlodge Care Center since 2002.

He was a member of the Arlington Community Church; had served on the school board of District No. 4; was a 64-year member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M. of Arlington and was a past Master. He was also the holder of the Jordan medal, which is given to the longest-living member of the lodge.

On May 23, 1934, he married Edith Plugge in Arlington.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Bernadine “Bernie” Marshall of St. Edward; two sisters, Julia Spitz of Columbus and Georgia Bjornstead of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
