Mrs. Leach Passes Away

Mrs. Philemia M Leach, wife of Eugene A. Leach, passed away at the home of her son, Arthur, on last Monday morning after suffering for a short time from an attack of pneumonia.

Mrs. Leach was born January 14, 1841 at Perry, Wyoming County, New York, thus being 76 years, 3 months, and 16 days when the end came.

She was married to Mr. E. A. Leach at Gibson, Ill., on Sept. 14, 1873, and in the spring of 1882, they came to this county and settled on the farm five miles south of Blair, the present home of the son, Arthur. Here they reared a family of two sons and one daughter, the elder son passing away a number of years ago.

A few years ago Mr. Leach built a comfortable home in Kennard and with his wife moved to town to enjoy a well earned rest, giving the management of the farm over to the son.

On March 9, 1916, the father passed away and the wife, left lonely without her mate never fully recovered from the shock so when sickness came upon her she was ready and waiting to go.

It has been the privilege of the writer to have known the deceased writer for the past twenty-five years and to know her was to know a true wife and mother, a woman of high ideals and we can with great sympathies to the bereaved children.

The daughter, Mrs. Cyrus Rose of Walthill, came in from her home on Monday evening and will remain until after the funeral which is to be held at the home of the son, tomorrow, Thursday, at 2 p.m., Rev. Stoner of Kennard officiating and interment will be made in the Kennard Cemetery.
