Mrs. Margaret Ellen Marshall, 72, widow of George Marshall who died ten years ago, succumbed Friday at her home on east South street. Although in failing health for some time, she had been critically ill but a few days before her death.

As Margaret Ellen Casselman, she was born at Three Rivers, Michigan, April 14, 1866. When she was a small girl, she moved to Des Moines with her family, and later they went to Winterset, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.

In 1885 she was married to George Marshall of Winterset and they moved to Minneapolis, Kansas, where they resided on a farm. Here three of their children were born. In 1893 the Marshalls moved to a farm near North Bend, Nebraska, where the youngest two children were born. Twenty-eight years ago they moved into Blair upon their retirement. Mr. Marshall died in October, 1928. One daughter, Mrs. Etta Good, also preceded the mother in death.

Mrs. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Holeton of Blair and Mrs. Chet Walrath of Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Blair; and two sons, Ollie and Floyd Marshall, both of Blair. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Casselman of St. Joseph, Missouri, and George Casselman of the veterans’ hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming; and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Shrader, of Oregon.

Mrs. Marshall was a member of the women’s auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washington County post No. 1251. Four of her brothers were in the army and her father saw Civil war service. Her son-in-law, Ora Holeton, was a World war veteran.

She had been a member of the Baptist church since joining in Missouri in 1905.

The body was taken to the Campbell mortuary. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Baptist church, the Rev. Charles E. Hamilton officiating. Members of the VFW auxiliary had charge of graveside services at Blair cemetery.
