Esther I. Parsons, 94

Washington County native Esther I. Parsons, 94, of Sioux City, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Casa de Paz Health Care Center.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. at Meyer Brothers.

Esther I. Krueger was born April 20, 1912, at the family home west of Herman to Henry and Meta (Hanke) Kruger.

After she married Ralph Parsons on Oct. 18, 1953, they lived at Sioux City. Mr. and Mrs. Parsons were members of the Allemande Leftover’s Square Dane Club.

Mrs. Parsons was employed at Martin and Neisner Brothers in Sioux City, and was also a Shaklee sales associate. She enjoyed craft projects and was an accomplished seamstress. Her volunteer work for Goodwill, especially at the Treasure Chest, meant much to her and she was honored to receive the Goodwill Volunteer of the Year award in 1992.

She is survived by her nieces, Barbara Peterson of Lincoln, Beverly Thomsen of Sumner, Iowa, and Gayle Hansen of Greencastle, Ind.; nephew, Gary Kruger of Herman; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jones of Lakeland, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1994; and three siblings, Ernest Kruger, Harlan Kruger and Helen Kruger.
