IRA J. “JACK” PARSONS, 79, of Decatur died at his Decatur home suddenly on Sunday, May 31, 1987.

He was born on May 30, 1908, at Decatur to Walter and Katherine (Snyder) Parsons, and was a lifelong resident of Decatur.

He was owner/operator of Parsons’ Garage in Decatur for over 40 years.

He was a member of the R.L.D.S. Church in Decatur, having been baptized on March 30, 1956.

He was married to Dorothy Irene Austin on December 16, 1931, at Dakota City.

She died May 7, 1984.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Rae (Mrs. Hiram) Miller of Decatur; one son, Jack Parsons of Parker Arizona; three brothers; Charles Parsons of Stockton, California, Walter Parsons of Walthill, and Arthur Parsons of Lyons; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 3, 1987, at the R.L.D.S. Church in Decatur with Elder Dale Wolf and Elder Ed Rieger officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

A prayer service was held on Tuesday evening at the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
