MRS. PATE IS DEAD, AGE 74

CHARLES PATE’S WIDOW SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS; BAPTIST RITES

Ill for many years—seriously so with cancer the past year and a half—Mrs. Mary Pate, long-time Blairite and Baptist Church worker, died last Wednesday night at the Lipton Nursing Home, 507 West South St.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist church. Officiating was the Rev. R.E. Ditlevsen, pastor, and interment was in Blair Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Robert McMillan, Everett Lamb, Abe Warrick, Harold Taylor, Glen Wilson and Ed Jensen. The Bendorf Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Mary Laura Phillips, daughter of Charles and Martha Phillips, was born on a farm in Burt County June 12, 1878. She joined the Baptist Church Nov. 28, 1890, and had been a devout and active member in the ensuing 63 ___

She and Elmer Pate were married Sept. 6, 1911. Mr. Pate died a number of years ago.

Surviving Mrs. Pate are two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nelson of Blair and Mrs. Norman Lothrop (Ida) of Kansas City, Mo.; also two grandsons, Herbert and Richard Nelson of Blair.
