Burial at Kennard Cemetery

Mrs. James Wright, who was buried at Kennard, Neb., July 30, 1912, lived for perhaps thirty years with her second husband and family just south of the schoolhouse that still stands on their old farm in District 25, now known as the Browning.

This writer first visited them in May 1871, when they gave us their letters from the Methodist church in Ohio and became members of our charge in Ft. Calhoun, and for years, the Wright family visited backwards and forward with our family, part of our family sometimes making several days' visit to the farm and we were indebted to them for many kindnesses. So we can speak truly of the character of this noble, Christian woman, who lived when only one house stood between them and the Frazer farm four miles on the road to Ft. Calhoun. She was rather small and light of build, but it was wonderful the work she did in opening up a a new farm, caring for her children with so few conveniences as they had in those days, when the mortgage and the raw prairie were the principal assets.
