Former Blair Man Dies In California

Ollie L. Marshall, long time former resident of Blair, died on March 3, 1981.

He was born in Kincaid, Kansas, in 1892 and moved to Blair at the age of 21, where he met and married Katherine Thompson in 1914. They made their home in Blair on Park Street where they lived and raised their four children.

Ollie’s favorite hobby was playing the violin and during his younger years, he played for many parties and dances in Blair.

In 1942, he and his family moved to California. He worked for Douglas Aircraft during the War and later built a home in Lakewood, California, where he and his wife became poultry ranchers until their retirement. Ollie had been in failing health for the past seven years due to emphysema and arthritis. He was hospitalized at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife Katherine, still residing at their home at 11516 E. 215th Street in Lakewood; two sons, George, of Hemet, California; and Less of Fullerton, California; and two daughters, Opal of Whittier, California, and Irene of Los Alamitos, California. His brother, Floyd Marshall of Blair, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive him.
