Services for Elmer A. “Butch” Martens, 72 of Fremont who died October 25, 1992 at his home are Tuesday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont. Rev. Stephen J. Brownlee will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery at Fremont.

Elmer A. Martens was born February 9, 1920 at Craig, Nebraska. He moved to Fremont when he was nine years old.

He farmed north of Fremont and was a 16 year employee of Valmont Industries. He retired from Valmont in 1985.

He married Alberta Schmidt December 31, 1921 in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans B. and Meta Kahnk Martens.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Lee Barfknecht of Omaha and one brother, Marvin Martens of Fremont.

Pallbearers were Rupert Dunklau, Myron Brand, Bill Schmidt, Kirk Martens, Rudy Carlson and Roger Anderson.

Memorials may go to the Fremont Presbyterian Church or Memorial Hospital Foundation.
