MRS. EMIL RATHJEN

Every seat in the Presbyterian church was filled and many standing at the funeral of Mrs. Emil Rathjen, who was buried in the Ft. Calhoun (Neb.) cemetery April 13, 1912. Mrs. Rathjen was a daughter of the late Henry Stoltenburg, who was buried here about forty years ago in the same cemetery. Her mother then moved to Council Bluffs, where she was afterwards married again and was buried about ten years ago.

Miss Stoltenburg was born in May, 1881, and was married to Emil Rathjen in November, 1906. She leaves two young children, one half-brother and five half-sisters, besides her husband and other relatives. Being born and living most of her life in this neighborhood, she was well known and loved by many people. For several years, she was in very poor health.

Rev. Hilkeman of Omaha preached in both German and English. Mrs. Joe Bolln and Mrs. Charles Rathjen sang the anthems in German, with Mrs. Wallie McMillan at the organ. The pallbearers were George Benke, Hans Schmidt, William Sierk, and Wm. Schmidt, W. Tietzen and Gus Suverkrubbe.

There were a great many beautiful flowers and the family desire to gratefully thank friends, one and all, for their kindness on this sad occasion.
