SERVICES FOR JOHN RATHJEN TO BE SATURDAY

John C. Rathjen passed away in Lancaster, California, Monday, July 31. He was 74. He suffered a severe heart attack.

John was born and raised in the Fort Calhoun area and visited there frequently. He had worked in Government service for 42 years and retired a few years ago.

His survivors include his wife Terry of Hawthorne, Calif.; son John P. Rathjen, Fort Calhoun; brother, Theodore N. Rathjen, Murphis, California; grandson, Bill Rathjen, Fort Calhoun; granddaughter, Lois, Mrs. Norlon Rasmussen of Audubon, Iowa.

Services are pending for John on Saturday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun. Sievers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES HELD AUGUST 5 FOR JOHN RATHJEN

Funeral services were held August 5, 1978 at Ft. Calhoun Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun for John C. Rathjen who passed away July 31, 1978 at Lancaster, California. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Mr. Rathjen was born August 21, 1903 in Fort Calhoun. He attended Fort Calhoun schools and graduated in 1921. In 1925, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Frahm. They had one son, Jack.

In 1929 he began working for the Department of Commerce Airways Division, retiring in 1971 after years of service. Since that time he has been engaged in electrical contracting in Southern California.

Mr. Rathjen is survived by his wife, of Hawthorne, California; brother, Ted Rathjen of Murphys, California; son, Jack Rathjen and wife Maxine of Fort Calhoun; grandson, Bill Rathjen of Fort Calhoun; and granddaughter, Lois of Audubon, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Richard Jipp, Howard Barnes, George Jipp, Harold Schneemeyer, Gene Smith and Alvin Ohrt.
