KATHERINE RATHJEN, 98: 2/19/1899 – 10/13/1997

Katherine Ethel Rathjen, 98, of Fort Calhoun died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997 at the Tekamah Nursing Center in Tekamah, Neb.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Rev. Gregg Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home.

Catherine Ethel Rathjen was born Feb. 19, 1899, on the family farm near the Wranch School in Washington County to August and Sophie (Gutschow) Frahm. (She later changed the spelling of her first name to Katherine.) She attended Wranch School through eighth grade. On Feb . 28, 1917, she married Hans Henry Rathjen.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Marjorie and George Flink; Faith Rathjen, Vernice Rathjen, Helen Rathjen; a son, Ralph Rathjen; brothers, Chris Frahm, Otto Frahm, and Edgar Frahm; sisters, Helen Young and Edna Weber and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Frahm, Ronald Frahm, Donald Frahm, Robert Frahm, John Burmeister, and Richard Burmeister.
