FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN RATHMANN

Funeral services were held on Wednesday for John Rathmann, 85, who passed away on April 6, 1981. Reverend Gordon Patterson officiated at military services at Sievers Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun, with burial in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard Burmeister, Ricky Burmeister, Alvin Ohrt, Edgar Frahm, Harry Rohwer and John Lorsch.

John Rathmann, lifelong resident of Washington County, was born in Fort Calhoun on February 29, 1896, and lived there until July of 1979, when he moved to Blair. The last month of his life was spent in Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

He farmed southwest of Fort Calhoun all his life until retiring, except for two years spent in the service during World War I. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washington County Historical Association and Long Creek School Historical Association.

He is survived by a sister, Laura Rathmann of Good Shepherd Home; two nieces, Flora Ohrt and Matta Larsen of Blair; three nephews, Emil and Arthur Lorsch of Blair and Alvin Baumer of Omaha.
